New Features On The iPhone 6 You May Not Have Discovered
June 10, 2015With a record 4 million iPhone 6 units sold in the first 24 hours of pre-order sales, Apple announced it sold 10 million iPhone 6 and 6 Plus phones in the first three days of sales last fall. If you’re reading this, you are most likely one of these 10 million new iPhone 6 users.
Have you discovered all of the new features your iPhone 6 provides?
Even though you spend hours a day on your phone, unless you’re a tech guru, you might not know about the iPhone 6’s hidden gems. Sometimes for even the most tech savvy, it can take days, even weeks, to uncover all the bells and whistles Apple sneaks in with their new phone launches.
Let’s talk about some of the new features on the iPhone 6 you may not have yet discovered.
Teach Siri a Lesson
Siri is great, except when she consistently mispronounces a name even when you’ve said it correctly yourself. You can teach her to say it right.
Launch Siri and ask her to say the name in question. For example, what is Sochi’s name? When she answers, politely tell her she’s not pronouncing it correctly. Once she asks you how to say it, and you tell her, she’ll give a few choices.
Pick the right one – she’ll remember it.
Leave a Group Conversation
You’ve probably been part of a group conversation at one time or another. And, perhaps you’ve accidentally sent a message to that same group when you really just wanted to message one person.
You can avoid this mistake by leaving a group conversation. To leave, tap Details in the upper right corner of your group conversation and tap Leave Conversation.
Share Your Location with a Friend
This one was actually found by our team accidentally! If you want to share your location with a friend, you can share your exact position through text messaging. Tap details in the upper right corner of your message thread and select Send My Location.
If you’re the parent of a teenager with an iPhone, this is a great way to know where they are. Instead of Send My Locaton, you can activate Share My Location.
Track Your Route
You can see where you’ve been and how many times you’ve been there. This is helpful if you need to prove it to your boss!
This cool feature is somewhat buried. Go to Settings>Privacy>Location Services>System Services. At the bottom select Frequent Locations and look at your history.
View All Texted Photos at Once
Looking for a special picture that you texted someone, but you can’t remember when you sent it? View every photo or video you’ve sent to friends and family by opening your text message thread and pressing details in the upper right corner.
Answer Texts without Unlocking Your Phone
Sometimes it’s just a plain hassle to unlock your phone. Now you don’t have to unlock it to answer a text message.
How? Swipe on the text notification. See the reply box? Tap it and respond to the text.
Have Siri Read to You
Don’t feel like reading? Siri can do it for you. She’ll read website articles, books, text messages and more. Go to Settings>General>Accessibility>Speech. Turn on Speak Screen and Speak Selection.
From now on when you swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers, Siri will read whatever is on the screen to you.
